Details
The chanterelle mushroom, also known as girolle (Cantharellus cibarius), grows from the end of May in clear oak forests in temperate regions. Cantharellus cibarius is often found among moss.
It measures between 5 and 10 cm, and can be differentiated from other chanterelle species by its funnel-shaped cap measuring 2-8 cm wide, and the deep folds under the cap. It is creamy-white or pale yellow in colour. The chanterelle is slightly soft with a wonderfully fruity scent and flavour.
